Nokia X to launch in India on March 10
After unveiling the X, X+ and the XL — its first Android smartphones — at the Mobile World Congress last month, Nokia is finally set to bring them to our shores. The Finnish company has sent us an invite for an event on March 10, where it could launch the Nokia X. Additionally; it may also announce the X+, which too was unveiled at the MWC.
Though things are yet to be made official, the Nokia X went on sale on an Indian online retailer for Rs 8,500. The retailed promised delivery from March 15 onwards. This doesn’t seem to be the official price of the product, but chances are post the launch, the Nokia X might hit the stores by March 15.
To recap on the specifications, the Nokia X sports a 4-inch WVGA (800×480 pixels) display and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor paired with 512MB of RAM. Other features include 4GB of storage with microSD support, 5-megapixel camera and a 1,500mAh battery.
The dual-SIM smartphone runs on an AOSP version of Android, which doesn’t have Google Play Store. Instead, Nokia is offering its own Android store that boasts a combination of its own and Microsoft’s apps. Users will also get access to third-party app stores like Yandex, as well as the ability to sideload other apps. As an introductory offer, Microsoft also announced that it would be offering buyers free calls Skype for a period of one month, and 1GB of OneDrive storage.
